Mourinho insists Mata won't be leaving Chelsea

Jose Mourinho insists Juan Mata will not be leaving Chelsea.

The Spaniard has made just one appearance so far this season and speculation about his future intensified after he was left out of the team to play Manchester United earlier this week.

But Mourinho is adamant that the midfielder, who has been voted the Blues’ player of the year for the past two seasons, will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “"It was my option (choice) [to leave him out against Manchester United].  I have always reason for the options.

"I feel it's my duty to explain to the players the reasons for my options - and I do. I don't feel it's my duty to explain to the media the reason for my options. I don't always do (it).

"Everything is clear between me and the player. We have no problems.

"I think he's a very important player for us. He wants to be a very important player for us.

"He wants to stay. I want him to stay, the club want him to stay. There is no story."
