Police Stop Governor Amaechi From Entering Rivers Government House
« on: September 13, 2013, 12:53:54 PM »

A detachment of heavily armed policemen from the Rivers State police command has stopped the convoy of Governor Rotimi Amaechi from entering the Rivers State Government House.

The governor, who was returning from an undisclosed location, met an army of policemen at the gate of his official residence, which prevented him from driving into the premises.

It is not immediately clear what necessitated the action of the police, but it is not unconnected with the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Earlier today, party faithful loyal to the governor under the auspices of the ‘New’ PDP opened a parallel secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The secretariat was sealed 20 minutes after it was opened.
