Deputy Governor of Kogi State narrowly escapes death in road accident

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi, miraculously escaped death yesterday afternoon in a ghastly auto mishap in Yangoji area of Kwali, along the ever-busy Abuja-Lokoja highway.

The Deputy governor was said to be returning to the state capital from an official function in Abuja when the incident occurred.

Information gathered was that his SUV crashed into one of his escort vehicles, a Honda Accord.


Awoniyi came out unhurt, but four policemen in his entourage and the driver of the affected car were not lucky as they sustained injuries.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Micheal Abu, who confirmed the accident to newsmen, noted that affected persons were currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital
