Nigeria Successfully Demarcates Border with Niger - Minister

Nigeria has successfully demarcated the border with Niger Republic to check insecurity in both countries, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Nurudeen Mohammed on Monday.

The minister stated this while briefing journalists after a meeting of the Board of the Nigerian Boundary Commission, presided over by Vice-President Namadi Sambo at his Aguda House residence, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister also stated that the President had already approved the purchase of vehicles for an effective patrol of the border areas.

He, however, noted that further interactions were ongoing between Nigeria and Cameroon to check possible terrorist activities and other breaches of security.

"I wish to express satisfaction that the boundary areas between Nigeria and Niger have been successfully delineated and we considered proposal from the DG of the Boundary Commission about the security of the Nigeria and Niger borders which already Mr President has approved (the purchase of vehicles) in fact the vehicles had been purchased for the Nigeria-Niger joint border patrol.’’
