Nigerians laments As Fuel Scarcity Bites Harder
« on: February 27, 2014, 09:41:11 am »
Motorists in Abuja and other parts of the country are lamenting the fuel scarcity currently being experienced across the federation.

The scarcity, which started on Monday, entered its third day yesterday without any sign of abating, resulting in long queues in all the filling stations visited by our reporters in Abuja.

As the scarcity bites harder, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has blamed the scarcity  on the delay by security operatives in the high sea in clearing ships bringing petroleum products into the country.

IPMAN’s President, Abdulkadir Aminu, said until the security operatives improve on their processes to clear the huge number of waiting cargo ships loaded with the petroleum products in the high sea, scarcity of products might be a recurring issue.

He said the continued contraction caused by the delayed cargo clearance processes results in continuous disruption in loading at various depots.

Most of the motorists who spoke to LEADERSHIP said they have been unable to get fuel. Some of them lamented that they were taken unawares by the scarcity.

Our reporter also observed that black marketers in Abuja have been enjoying the scarcity as they sell at exorbitant rate of between N200 to N250 per litre.

Some residents also lamented that they were stranded at various bus stops due to the scarcity.
