Angélique Kidjo makes history as first African artiste to get Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Angélique Kidjo is set
to etch her name in history as the first African artiste to receive a star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Renowned for her powerhouse vocals, genre-defying music, and
electrifying performances, Kidjo will be honoured in the ‘Recordings’ category
alongside global icons such as Miley Cyrus and The Clark Sisters.

The prestigious recognition celebrates her decades of
musical innovation and her tireless efforts in bringing African sounds and
culture to the world stage.

The honorees were chosen by the Hollywood Chamber of
Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection panel during a meeting on June 20, selected
from hundreds of nominations.

The chamber’s board of directors officially approved the selections
on June 25.

The Walk of Fame Class of 2026 is a distinguished list of 35
luminaries spanning music, film, television, live theater, and sports
entertainment.

“We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35
esteemed individuals who will be enshrined onto the Walk of Fame,” said Peter
Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and chairman of the Walk of Fame
selection committee, in a statement.“These talented individuals have made significant
contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them
with this well-deserved recognition.”  Below is the star-studded list: RecordingsAir SupplyBone Thugs-N-HarmonyPaulinho da CostaThe Clark SistersMiley CyrusJosh GrobanIntocableAngélique KidjoLyle LovettMotion PicturesEmily BluntTimothée ChalametChris ColumbusMarion CotillardKeith DavidRami MalekRachel McAdamsDemi MooreFranco NeroDeepika PadukoneMolly RingwaldStanley TucciCarlo Ramboldi (Posthumous)Tony Scott (Posthumous)Television Greg DanielsSarah Michelle GellarLuceroChef Gordon RamsayMelody Thomas ScottRobin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos (double ceremony)Bradley WhitfordNoah WyleLive Theatre/Live Performance Lea SalongaGabriel “Fluffy” IglesiasSports EntertainmentShaquille O’NealThe date for Kidjo’s star unveiling ceremony has yet to be
