2027: ADC will hold primaries if Atiku, Obi, Amaechi fail to agree on consensus – Spokesman

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said that it would
pursue consensus in the selection of its presidential candidate in 2027.

 

However, ADC said it would opt for a competitive primary
election if those seeking the party’s presidential ticket fail to agree on
consensus.

 

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the
party’s position known on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on Arise
Television.

 

He said the party would not be distracted by zoning debates
or early presidential declarations by members.

 

Abdullahi stated that the priority of the ADC is building
robust structures nationwide, stressing that leadership is about knowing what
to do and when to do it.

 

“Atiku says he will run, Obi says he will run, Amaechi says
he will run, that does not stop anyone else. What we are committed to is a
level playing ground. We will pursue consensus, and if that fails, we will hold
competitive primaries.

 

“For us, our focus now is building a fighting structure, not
rushing into zoning conversations,” Abdullahi added.

 

Recall that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have zoned their presidential tickets to the
southern part of the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
