ISWAP Terrorists Abduct Newly Elected  LG Vice Chairman, Two Councillors in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP militants have kidnapped the recently elected Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area in Borno State, Alhaji Saidu, along with two councillors and multiple other travellers.The incident took place on Wednesday evening along the dangerous Kamuya village to Buni Yadi road, as the victims were en route to Maiduguri following local government elections held the previous Saturday.A source confirmed: "Our newly elected Vice Chairman from Saturday's polls, Alhaji Saidu, and councillors for Zarawuyaku and Miringa wards in Biu LGA were seized by suspected ISWAP fighters between Kamuya village and Buni Yadi."The assailants also targeted another vehicle, abducting passengers from a Jamatul Nasrul Islam (JNI) bus travelling from Potiskum in Yobe State to Biu, as well as individuals in a Hisbah vehicle.One of the abducted councillors is reportedly the immediate past vice chairman of Biu Local Government Area.The roughly 120-kilometre stretch linking Biu, Buratai, Kamuya, Buni Yadi, and beyond has long been notorious for insurgent attacks, killings, and kidnappings, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.
