Kwankwasiyya Demands Transparency Over PFIPC Scandal

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has urged the Nigerian Presidency to provide a full and transparent account of the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), warning that the issue has become a test of public accountability. In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group expressed concern that while the Presidency insists the PFIPC never existed, reports indicate that over N1 billion was allocated to an entity bearing the same or similar name in the 2026 Appropriation Act.“What began as a matter linked to an individual has now become a serious test of the Federal Government’s credibility, transparency, and accountability,” the statement read. The movement questioned how a non-existent council could appear in the national budget, demanding answers on who proposed and approved the allocation, which offices processed the documentation, and whether any public funds were released. It stressed that these were not partisan concerns but fundamental issues of governance.Kwankwasiyya reminded Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu came into office promising renewed hope, institutional reform, and responsible governance. It warned that silence or contradictions in the government’s response would only deepen public distrust and damage Nigeria’s international image, particularly among foreign investors who rely on institutional credibility. The group called on the Presidency to publish a comprehensive account of the matter, detailing how the budgetary provision originated, the administrative processes involved, and measures to prevent similar incidents. It also urged the National Assembly and anti-corruption agencies to conduct an independent investigation.Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the movement declared:“Every naira appropriated belongs to the Nigerian people, and every public institution must be accountable to them. No democracy can flourish where questions are discouraged or contradictions go unexplained.”
