Governor Okorocha’s home cut off by erosion in Imo State
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:49:23 AM »
The Imo State government has declared Orlu road down to Ideato south and north local government areas of the state as disaster areas, following a gully erosion that has separated the road into two.

Governor Rochas Okorocha made the declaration on Monday, after inspecting the road along with his deputy, Sir Jude Agbaso, who doubles as the state Commissioner for Works.

In view of the erosion menace, Governor Okorocha and his people who live outside the affected communities of the two local government areas have been prevented from visiting home.

It was gathered that Umuchima and Mgbe near Orlu were places badly affected by the erosion.

In view of the foregoing, Okorocha has passionately appealed to the Federal Government to come to the rescue of more than 700,000 people, who were already trapped by the gully erosion.

Answering reporters, the governor explained that the gully erosion was beyond what the state could tackle on its own.

The governor and his entourage later inspected roads construction going on in Orlu, Nkwerre and Umudi.
