Abuja Court frees alleged Nyanya bomb suspect

THE Federal High Court, Abuja. Division Monday discharged  the alleged mastermind of the April 14, bomb explosion at a bus station in Nyanya outskirts of Abuja, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche for "want of diligent prosecution."

Government had preferred a charge against Ogwuche through the Inspector General of Police. However, no progress has been made with the prosecution of the charge due to a tussle between the police and the Department of State Security (DSS) over who the power to prosecute the suspect belongs to.

At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the trial judge, Justice Ademola Adeniyi struck out the charge due to the absence of the IGP and the prosecution counsel. - Guardian
