Three feared dead in Kaduna church blast

NO fewer than three people were reportedly killed on Sunday and dozens injured in a suicide bombing during mass at St. Rita's Catholic Church in  Ungwar Yero  area of Kaduna metropolis, officials say. The attack, which seriously injured the parish priest, occurred around 8:45 AM.
Eyewitnesses said a lone car bomber approached the church gate hoping to quietly drive into the church before exploding the bomb but the security men at the gate refused him entry.
The bomber then reversed his car and rammed it forcefully against the gate of the church and the bomb exploded injuring several worshippers.
Troops have however, cordoned off the area while the police and officials of the Kaduna State government officials are calming christian residents in the area to avoid religious confrontations that sometimes follow such attack in the state.
