Jonathan didnt sign a 1 Term PACT - He is eligible for his 2nd Term in 2015

Sources privy to a 2010 meeting between President Jonathan and the PDP Governors said that there was nothing in form of a written pact between President Jonathan and the PDP governors that He was going for only one term.

The source said that while one of the governors actually raised the question whether Jonathan was only going to complete the tenure of his former boss, President  Yar’Adua or he was starting his own term, there was silence and that no answer was actually provided until the meeting moved to another issue on the agenda.

“I can recall that someone in the meeting raised the question whether Jonathan was only contesting to complete the tenure that would have been granted the late President Umaru Yar’Adua if he were to run for second term in office there was silence. Nobody answered that question till the meeting moved to another issue. There cannot be a pact between the President and the governors on that matter, looking at the background to the issue at stake.

“In the build up to that meeting, some forces had been raising the issue of zoning formula. They wanted the nation to believe that zoning was automatic for the late Yar’Adua, whereas it wasn’t automatic for former President Olusegun Obasanjo, whom some northern politicians wanted to stop, based on similar allegation of existence of a pact. So, how would you expect President Jonathan to go ahead and sign any single term pact when there was already confusion over the zoning arrangement?  I can tell you it didn’t happen,” the source said.
