FCTA to deploy sanitation task force

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Wednesday, revealed that it had concluded plans to deploy a sanitation task force in the six area councils of the territory.

The minister of state of the territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, told stakeholders in Abuja that a sanitation task force had become necessary to ensure a clean environment in the territory.

“When the plan was completed last year, Mr. President gave anticipatory approval and we are now trying to source the funds as it requires a lot of money. For now, a lot of advocacy is going on and we intend to fully support you because we understand that sanitation with the growing population is a big challenge for everybody,” she said.

While giving his speech, the Director. Of the Satellite Development Agency, Tukur Bakuri, said that any resident that failed to comply with the new sanitation policy would be sanctioned.

“What we are going to do now on is that you must have a collection bag or basket to make the collection easier. When we start, we will give enough notice and orientation so that anyone that does not comply will be taken to a mobile court,” he said.

According to the minister, the new sanitation policy will be in force in all the area councils before the end of this year
