NYSC ends camp activities for Ramadan

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is on Thursday ending all physical camping exercise in all orientation camps nationwide four days ahead of the scheduled closing, because of the commencement of the Ramadan season.

A statement from the management of the scheme issued Wednesday noted that the early end to camp activities was to enable muslim corps members take part fully in the fast. However, corps members are to remain in camp until the official closing day, Monday in order for them to collect posting letters for their primary assignment.

"The decision by the NYSC Management is in anticipation of the commencement of Ramadan fast on Friday, 20th July or Saturday, 21st July, 2012. However, the official closing date for the orientation course still remains Monday, 23rd July, 2012".

"All corps members will therefore remain on camp, and will collect their letters of posting to Places of Primary Assignment on Monday, 23rd July, 2012", management said.
