Arewa Youth Assembly Urges Nigerians to Share Intelligence with Security Agencies

The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on Nigerians to actively support security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence to strengthen the ongoing fight against insecurity.Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the group’s spokesperson, Muhammad Sanni, said the military has achieved significant strategic gains against insurgency, banditry, and other security threats across the country.Sanni noted that public cooperation is essential to sustaining these gains, adding that many communities previously plagued by attacks are now experiencing relative calm due to intensified military operations and better coordination among security agencies. He acknowledged that Nigeria has long battled multiple security challenges, including Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, communal violence in the North-Central, and separatist agitation in the South-East.“The sovereignty of the state was violently challenged by non-state actors across different parts of the country,” Sanni said.He highlighted that troop morale had previously suffered due to obsolete equipment, poor inter-agency coordination, and a reactive security posture. However, the military has now adopted an “intelligence-led precision offensive,” which has led to the elimination of several high-profile insurgent and bandit leaders.Sanni commended coordinated operations such as Hadin Kai, Fansan Yamma, Safe Haven, Whirl Stroke, and Delta Safe, as well as improved collaboration between the Army and Air Force, which have enhanced operational success and reduced casualties among troops. While admitting that insecurity remains a challenge, the Arewa Youth Assembly spokesperson expressed optimism that the current trajectory of military operations would lead to the eventual defeat of terrorism, banditry, and criminality in Nigeria.“We stand in total solidarity with the armed forces, call on the citizenry to provide actionable intelligence, and urge the political class not to politicise the blood and sweat of our gallant troops,” Sanni added.
